David Bowling
As a child I spent most of time with my Grandparents. My Grandfather was a fine artist and entrepreneur of his day. He loved race cars and even owned his own plane. I think a lot of his passions for fine art and fast cars rubbed off on me.
Unfortunately my father passed away early in my life and my grandad helped to shaped me along the path of design, art and engineering.
My parents came from land owners / farming and butchery background. The farm was great I even had my own pony. But when i was 6 I had first motorbike and have been involved with mechanics ever since, one of my favourite hobbies is building period American hot rods.
I went to some great schools however, it wasn’t until college I excelled. Studying the arts and architectural giants was fascinating, I started to understand the mathematics and rhythms of architecture.
The world of colour and texture excited me with how when work together they can say different things to invoke emotions and creating atmosphere. I didn’t realise at the time, but the importance of understanding the past before being able to create and design the new is monumental.
I love colour and I’m not afraid to using it.
